Father's Day

My dad and my husband are precious fathers in my life.  My dad has raised, protected, and loved me in a way that amazes me every day as he continues to care for me as a grown woman.

Jeff is a wonderful father to my children.  I thank God for His kindness in placing Joost, Grace, Kate, and Henry under the strong and godly shelter that Jeff lovingly and selflessly gives them.

The righteous who walks in his integrity—

Shenandoah Valley

This weekend we spent some time with Mom and Dad down in Virginia.  We stayed in the Shenandoah Valley and had a great time visiting the University of Virginia (where I know I took some great pictures, but I must have used Dad's phone because I can't find them anywhere) and Michie Tavern.

There was even race car driving .

On our final day we took, what we thought to be a casual walk off of Skyline Drive, the scariest hike I've ever been on.  I was convinced that one of my children was going to fall to their death from the path that lead far too close to the edge of steep, never ending cliffs.  By the time we realized the trail was so hazardous, we were half way through and turning around didn't make any sense.  Looking back it's a ha-ha memory, but during the entire 4 hour hike I was sick to my stomach with fear for the kids safety.

But we all came out alive and enjoyed the weekend away.
