Lake Tobias with Friends

We had a fun time earlier this week visiting Lake Tobias Wildlife Park with many friends from church. Kim Dodd was the master mind behind this fun day and also the one who took these pictures.

We visited this park last summer for Joost's birthday. This visit we also road on the safari bus and were able to feed the very friendly wild animals.

We visited the petting zoo where there were some overly eager goats who were willing to eat our pants if we had no crackers to offer. We picnicked and ate giant squeeze up ice pops (which I learned take a skill set which I had not yet developed in Joost or Grace. In hindsight, ice cream would have been the better choice.) We went to a reptile show where we learned that the gender of an alligator is determined by the temperature at which it is kept while still in the egg. The kids all fell asleep on the ride home. It was a fun day with friends.

Front porch swimming

Thank goodness for large, covered front porches! The heat has been getting greater and greater the past few days, and the kids have been wanting to go swimming. So yesterday we blew up the pool on the front porch and they swam happily for hours.

This afternoon after church, we discovered that our central air is not working. The kids were not disheartened by the intense heat in our house. Instead, they were eager to get their swim suits on again and spend more contented hours in the pool.
