Halloween 2012

My kids love Halloween and finding fun costumes to wear.  Some years I'm very creative (see Halloween 2009--Joost, Grace and Kate were the three musketeers and I made their costumes).  This year, I didn't have time for creativity and so we decided to choose from what we had around the house.  It worked out well.  Kate would have been a princess no matter what.  Grace and I were decent at pulling things from the house that worked for her cowboy costume.  And Joost was benevolent enough to wear his already used knight costume.

The cow costume that Henry wore is a classic, however.  All of the kids have worn that costume in their first years of treat-or-treating.  It was bitter sweet to see him in it and know that it would be the last time it was worn.

Paxtang is a great place to trick-or-treat.  Our neighbors are all so friendly and the borough does the night well with lit streets, a live band (where the drummer looks like a skeleton) and even the mayor is at her home passing out candy (really great stuff for the Paxtang kids and dum-dum lolly pops for all "outsiders").

Of course my kids and their cousins come home with enough candy to last them until their Easter baskets in the spring.

Water color and ink, 2012

This is my latest piece.  I was asked to submit one for Covenant Christian Academy's annual auction and had a lot of fun writing this one.  It happens to be the school's verse.  You would love hearing Marina Allen sing it in Latin at the beginning of each school year. If you need a reminder of the song, listen to the version from Henry V.

When Katie's tired, she's tired and doesn't care where she sleeps.

Très Bonne Année 2012

This is our second year attending the Très Bonne Année event hosted by the Whitaker Center.  We enjoyed the Gala Wine Auction and Dinner and time with some of Jeff's co-workers and clients.

18 months old

Today our little Henry is a year and a half old.

He's not great at smiling in pictures, but he is when the press isn't after him. What a joy he is in our lives! He's added so much to our family and I thank God every day for this little blessing.

hats, hats, and more hats

It must be a cold day if he has to resort to wearing his sister's hat, too.

My vacuuming man

I may have mentioned this before, but Henry has an unordinary love of vacuums.  This little man can entertain himself for hours if the vacuum cleaner is out.  When I'm cleaning, he is always offering to help push it around and do some of the cleaning himself.  The vacuum is his favorite toy.  That doesn't leave me a lot of ideas for Christmas...

The kids are on fall break and Ashcombe Farm is hosting their annual fall activity.  The kids always enjoy all the activities and goodies.
