Forty years ago, on August 5th, 1972, my parents were married. They have stayed true to each other and their vow before God ever since. I am thankful to be able to celebrate their anniversary with them--thankful that they have been faithful to each other and also grateful that both are healthy and able to enjoy this celebration.
Andrew and I thought everyone else should celebrate our parents' lasting marriage, as well. So we threw them a party! Friends and family came and we had a lovely evening with them all.
Mom and Dad cut their cake with the same knife they used at their wedding reception.
They even fed each other the cake--although I think there was more icing on each other's face than there was at the original event.
Three of Mom's bridesmaids were able to come.
One of her bridesmaids even kept the dress she wore in Mom & Dad's wedding and gave it to her as a gift!
Dad & Mom,
thank you for your love for each other
and your love for the God who has blessed your marriage
with happiness and contentment for so many years.
